Mental Health
Go to the ModelThis project has been run with participation and support from the Cheshire Mental Health Partnership Executive. Workshops were run in July and September and sought to address the key capacity issues arising from new functional teams and primary care mental health teams. In particular it considered the potential impact on the development of new models of supported accommodation. The key question being addressed was agreed as:
How would the development of new models of accommodation with support, alongside continued development and improved effectiveness of functional and support teams in the community impact on whole system costs including acute, out of area and continuing NHS healthcare ?
The workshop participants explored how they saw the system for mental health services operating and developed the picture below to illustrate this and to form the basis of the modelling exercise. The diagram illustrates particularly how the role of the CMHT is challenged by the development of new services, as it increasingly acts as a 'micro-commissioner' of a wide range of community and more specialist services including, but by no means exclusively linked to acute inpatient admissions.
